A federal district court granted a preliminary injunction blocking Oklahoma’s proposed constitutional amendment excluding Sharia and international law from state courts. Muneer Awad argued that singling out Islam impaired his religious freedom and equal access to the courts. CAIR and the ACLU supported the challenge. The injunction temporarily prevented implementation while litigation continued; it was not yet the final 2013 judgment.
