Thomas Hennefeld, head of Austria’s Evangelical Reformed Church, condemned publication of the Islam map. He argued that identifying Muslim institutions in a climate of suspicion and hostility could invite attacks. The intervention added Christian solidarity to Muslim organizations’ opposition and challenged the portrayal of an entire religious community as a security problem.
