The House of Representatives passed the NO BAN Act in the new congressional session. The ACLU welcomed passage and urged the Senate to advance the bill. Although Biden had rescinded the earlier bans, advocates sought lasting limits on future presidents’ power to impose discriminatory entry restrictions. The House vote did not make the bill federal law.
