A solidarity demonstration opens Trinidad's Black Power mobilization

The National Joint Action Committee led a demonstration in solidarity with Caribbean students prosecuted after the Montreal university protest. It developed into weeks of mass mobilization over racial hierarchy, unemployment and economic control. The movement questioned why political independence had left major structures of wealth and authority beyond the effective control of the Black majority.
