← Terug naar het dashboard
📅 30 Mei 1969 📍 Curaçao

A wage dispute involving workers at a Shell subcontractor developed into a mass march and uprising in Willemstad. Black workers challenged an unequal economic and political order. Police violence and the deployment of Dutch marines exposed the coercive power behind that order. The revolt increased pressure for greater local political representation and recognition of Afro-Curaçaoan dignity.
