Berkeley's Third World Liberation Front launches a strike

Black, Asian American, Mexican American and Native American student organizations began a strike demanding a Third World College. Their proposal linked access to education with community control over curriculum and appointments. The movement challenged the assumption that established university departments could speak adequately for colonized and racialized peoples without their participation in producing knowledge.
