New Jersey Muslims file Hassan v. City of New York against NYPD surveillance

← Back to Dashboard
📅 6 June 2012 📍 United States

Muslim individuals, businesses and organizations in New Jersey sued New York City over the NYPD’s surveillance program. The plaintiffs alleged that their religious identity, rather than evidence of wrongdoing, had made them targets, harming worship, association and livelihoods. Muslim Advocates and cooperating lawyers brought the initial action; the Center for Constitutional Rights later joined. The date records filing, not a final ruling on liability.
