Women began a sit-in at Lucknow’s historic Clock Tower against the Citizenship Amendment Act. By the following morning, the gathering had grown and was being compared with the women-led Shaheen Bagh movement. The demonstration extended Muslim women’s participation in the struggle over equal citizenship to another major Indian city.
