Attackers set fire to Indigenous leader Galdino Jesus dos Santos while he slept at a bus stop in Brasília. He died the following day. Remembered as Galdino Pataxó, he had travelled to the capital for Indigenous mobilization. The attack exposed the extreme devaluation of Indigenous life amid struggles for recognition and land rights.
