Kilvenmani massacre targets a community of striking Dalit labourers

Forty-four people, including women and children, were killed when a hut was burned in Kilvenmani, Tamil Nadu, during a conflict over agricultural wages. Dalit workers had organized against landlords. The massacre exposed the violence sustaining caste hierarchy and labour exploitation.
