Students boycotted the colonial university arrangements in Rangoon, challenging provisions they regarded as restrictive and exclusionary. The campaign helped encourage national education. Control over learning was a political issue: colonized communities sought institutions responsive to their needs rather than training designed primarily around imperial priorities.
