Following the postponement in London of the Round Table Conference on Palestine, US President Harry Truman makes a statement reviewing US efforts on the Palestine issue since Summer 1945: pressing London to admit 100,000 Jews in Palestine; participating in the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry and approving its recommendations (November 1945 โ€“ April 1946); preparing arrangements for the immigration of 100,000 Jews in Palestine, one of the reportโ€™s recommendations, though acknowledging the British view that the recommendations should be considered as a whole (June); and participating in devising the Morrison-Grady Plan for Palestine (July).
