The ANC published its approved rules, guidelines and procedures for selecting candidates for the 2026 local government elections. The process was presented as a means of rebuilding and strengthening branches and improving credibility and inclusion in candidate selection. As party branches nominate local representatives, the rules shape who can seek office and how community participation is structured. The later difficulties in submitting candidate lists to the IEC would make the gap between internal selection and effective electoral administration particularly visible.
