ANC opens its 54th National Conference at Nasrec

The ANC’s 54th National Conference opened at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg under the theme “Remember Tambo: Towards Unity, Renewal and Radical Socio-economic Transformation.” Delegates faced a closely contested leadership election and decisions on the party’s policy direction. The opening came after internal disputes over delegate credentials and amid broader criticism of the ANC government’s record, corruption and declining public trust.
