Organisatiegeschiedenis 📅 21 December 1991 📍 Zuid-Afrika

The first plenary session of the Convention for a Democratic South Africa opened at the World Trade Centre near Johannesburg. Delegates from political parties signed a Declaration of Intent, although the IFP and Bophuthatswana government did not sign it. CODESA created a formal arena for negotiations, while the ANC continued to insist on majority rule and an elected constituent assembly.
