← Back to Dashboard
Organization history 📅 14 September 1991 📍 South Africa

Representatives of political organisations, trade unions, business, churches and other bodies signed the National Peace Accord in Johannesburg. It established structures intended to prevent and resolve political violence during the transition. The Accord was a negotiated response to severe violence, but it did not stop attacks or eliminate the unequal power of the apartheid state.
