← Back to Dashboard
Biography 📅 21 October 2003 📍 South Africa

Named for his Robben Island prisoner number, 46664 used music, public events and communications to challenge HIV stigma and raise awareness. Mandela urged audiences to see AIDS as a human rights issue and to support prevention, care and treatment. The campaign connected an iconic liberation history with contemporary health activism, while community groups and people living with HIV remained central agents of the struggle.
