Security police raided Liliesleaf farm in Rivonia and arrested many ANC and MK organizers, including Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki, Ahmed Kathrada, and others. Mandela was already imprisoned. The raid exposed an underground leadership network and supplied the state with documents used in the Rivonia prosecution. The trial’s history includes the arrested comrades, their defense team, families, and broader support networks, not only Mandela.
