Malcolm travels to Los Angeles to support women pursuing legal claims

← Back to Dashboard
Biography ๐Ÿ“… 28 January 1965 ๐Ÿ“ United States

Malcolm flew to Los Angeles to meet attorney Gladys Towles Root and two former Nation of Islam secretaries who were filing paternity suits against Elijah Muhammad. He said he felt responsible for having introduced the women to the organization and wanted to support their legal action. The entry centers the womenโ€™s agency and the limits of what a filing proves: the existence of a lawsuit is not itself a judicial finding on paternity.
