Iran forwards a further chemical warfare concern

Velayati protested alleged chemical attacks on Khormal and Halabja, arguing that international silence weakened legal instruments intended to protect civilians.

Manuel Dominguez arrived in Tehran and began examining and interviewing patients, using clinical evidence to investigate Iran’s chemical-weapons allegations.

The mission examined patients at Bakhtaran’s reception centre and observed and interviewed affected people in Nowdoshe and Nejmal, adding village-level evidence to its hospital work.

Velayati urged the disarmament conference to complete a comprehensive chemical-weapons convention and criticized the lack of effective preventive action after Halabja.
