The first federal National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honoured residential-school survivors, families and communities. It implemented the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action 80 and coincided with Orange Shirt Day. Survivor-led remembrance became part of official public life, while implementation of other reparative measures remained a separate responsibility.
