The Albany Movement forms a broad local coalition

Local organizations formed the Albany Movement in Georgia to challenge segregation across community life. Students, churches, voting-rights organizers and womenโ€™s groups contributed to the coalition. Its broad programme made schools, transport, public facilities and political participation connected parts of a struggle against institutional exclusion.
