📅 5 December 1955 📍 Verenigde Staten

Black residents stayed off Montgomery buses after organizers circulated a call for protest following Rosa Parks’ arrest. Leaders formed the Montgomery Improvement Association and a mass meeting voted to continue the boycott. Women’s organizing and community participation made collective economic pressure possible, challenging the institutions enforcing segregation through a sustained campaign.
