New Delhi declaration affirms a more representative order

The foreign ministers’ meeting concluded with a chair’s statement and outcome document that supported India’s BRICS agenda. This is a chair’s document, not a leaders’ declaration.

India hosted the eleventh BRICS Foreign Policy Dialogue, extending consultation among the members before the September summit.

The New Development Bank records Uzbekistan as a member effective 5 June. NDB membership is separate from full BRICS membership.

The declaration supported stronger representation for developing countries from Africa, Asia and Latin America, and recognized African aspirations in the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration.

Leaders welcomed a UN resolution on enslavement of Africans and urged implementation of a UN resolution to eradicate colonialism in all its forms.
