UNGA Res. 2649 (XXV): Condemning Denial of Right to Self-Determination to Peoples of South Africa and Palestine

← Back to Dashboard
๐Ÿ“… 30 November 1970 ๐Ÿ“ United States

The measure affirms the right of peoples under colonial and alien domination to self-determination and "to restore to themselves that right by any means at their disposal." Though the measure is of a general character, it does include a provision asserting that the GA "condemns those Governments that deny the right to self-determination of peoples recognized as being entitled to it, especially of the peoples of southern Africa and Palestine." This is the first time that the GA acknowledges Palestinian self-determination.
