Organization history 📅 2 June 2024 📍 South Africa

The IEC announced the final 2024 election results: the ANC won 40.18% of the vote and 159 seats in the 400-seat National Assembly. It remained the largest party but fell below a majority for the first time since 1994, when the end of apartheid brought universal adult suffrage. The result registered a major withdrawal of support from the ANC and required negotiations with other parties to form a government.
