ANC NEC recommits to the step-aside resolution

After meeting from 6 to 8 December, the National Executive Committee reaffirmed the position taken in August on members charged with corruption and other serious crimes. It asked party officials to finalise organisation-wide guidelines for the NEC to consider in early 2021. The decision made internal discipline and the meaning of renewal central questions, while legal proceedings and disagreements among ANC leaders exposed the difficulty of enforcing the rule consistently.
