ANC fifth National Policy Conference opens

The ANC’s fifth National Policy Conference opened at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand. Delegates began reviewing organisational health and policy proposals ahead of the December elective conference. ANC president Jacob Zuma’s opening address acknowledged enduring poverty, inequality, unemployment and the survival of apartheid-era economic power relations. These were the organisation’s own diagnoses, set against pressure from workers, students and communities for deeper economic transformation.
