Mandela honours Oliver Tambo at his funeral

Mandela addressed Tambo’s funeral and paid tribute to his decades of leadership and organising. Tambo’s work had connected the South African liberation struggle to African governments, international institutions and solidarity movements around the world. Remembering him publicly helped situate Mandela’s own leadership within a collective history of political labour and sacrifice.
